Nutrition Child

Description

Nutrition

Nutrition is the provision, to cells and organisms, of the materials necessary to support life. Many common health problems can be prevented or alleviated with good nutrition.

In general, eating a wide variety of fresh, foods has proven favorable compared to monotonous diets based on processed foods. In particular, the consumption of whole plant foods slows digestion and allows better absorption, and a more favorable balance of essential nutrients per calorie, resulting in better management of cell growth, maintenance, and cell division, as well as better regulation of appetite and blood sugar.

The nutrient classes can be categorized as either macronutrients or micronutrients. The macronutrients are carbohydrates, fats, fiber, proteins, and water. The micronutrients are minerals and vitamins.

Most foods contain a mix of some or all of the nutrient classes. Some nutrients are required regularly, while others are needed only occasionally. Poor health can be caused by an imbalance of nutrients, whether an excess or a deficiency.

Proteins are the basis of many animal body structures. Each molecule is composed of amino acids, sometimes many thousands, which are cauterized by inclusion of nitrogen and sometimes sulphur. The body requires amino acids to produce new proteins (protein retention) and to replace damaged proteins (maintenance).

Dietary minerals are the chemical elements required by living organisms, other than the four elements carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen that are present in common organic molecules. The term mineral is archaic, since the intent is to describe simply the less common elements in the diet. Heavier than the four just mentioned, including several metals, and often occurring as ions in the body. Some dietitians recommend that these be supplied from foods in which they occur naturally or at least as complex compounds, or sometimes even from natural organic sources. On the other hand, minerals are often artificially added to the diet as supplements, the most famous being iodine in iodized salt.

Vitamins

Twelve vitamins are recognized as essential nutrients, necessary in the diet for good health. Certain vitamin like compounds that are recommended in the diet, such as carnitine, are indispensable for survival and health, but these are not strictly essential because the human body has some capacity to produce them from other compounds. Moreover, thousands of different physiochemical have recently been discovered in food (particularly in fresh vegetables), which may have desirable properties including antioxidant activity.

About 70% of the non fat mass of the human body is made of water. To function properly, the body requires between one and seven liters of water per day to avoid dehydration, the precise amount depends on the level of activity, temperature, humidity, and other factors. With physical exertion and heat exposure, water loss will increase and daily fluid needs may increase as well.

Proper nutrition in childhood can reinforce lifelong eating habits that contribute to your children's overall well being and help them to grow up to their full potential and healthy life.

Best food for kids: Although you don't want to get in the habit of forcing your kids to eat foods they don't like or make them clean their plates, there are lots of healthy foods kids like. Parents often overlook these healthy foods and go straight to what they think are more kid friendly foods, such as pizza, French fries, chicken nuggets, juice and soda.

Healthy snacks for kids: In addition to their three regular meals, kids often get quite a few calories from the snacks they eat throughout the day. Make sure your kids are eating healthy snacks, including low fat, low calorie foods such fresh fruits and raw vegetables.

Kid food activities with your kids: Activities for parents and their children to help promote healthy nutrition, including using the food guide pyramid, shopping, cooking and choosing foods together, and growing plants.

Nutrition and child development are two terms that often go hand in hand. The more nutritious diet your child consumes, the healthier your child would be. The nutrition requirement of a child differs from that of an adult, because the child witnesses the phase of growth. It is owing to this fact that there arises a need to encourage healthy nutrition for child.
